Itinerary:

Day 1-3: Sapporo (Hokkaido)
Arrive at Chitose International Airport and make your own way to Sapporo city for a stay of three nights.

Day 4-6:Tokyo
Make your own way to Chitose Airport for your flight on Japan Airlines to Tokyo Haneda Airport. Make your own to your hotel for a stay of three nights.
Accommodation: Keio Plaza Hote or similar.

Day 7: Hakone
Discover Hakone at leisure by using the Hakone Pass.
Accommodation: Hakone Hotel or similar.

Day 8-9: Takayama
Travel by train to Takayama.
Accommodation Houshokaku Ryokan or similar

Day 10: Kyoto
Travel by train to Kyoto, the old Imperial Capital and the still the centre of cultural heritage for a stay of two nights. Accommodation: Rihga Royal Hotel or similar.

Day 11: Kyoto
Morning tour of Kyoto. This includes Nijo Castle, Kyoto Imperial Palace and the Golden Pavilion.

Day 12-13: Dogo Onsen
Cross the Inland Sea by train over the Seto Ohashi Bridge and on to Dogo Onsen for a stay of two nights.

Day 14: Hiroshima
By ferry to Hiroshima to see the Peace Park and Memorial museum.
Accommodation: Granvia Hotel or similar.

Day 15: Kumamoto
Travel by train to Kumamoto to see the castle and 300-year-old garden, Suizenji Koen.

Day 16-17:Kagoshima
Take a scenic train to Kagoshima, dominated by Sakurajima an active volcano.

Day 18: Fukuoka
Onto Fukuoka by train the liveliest nightlife in Western Japan.
Accommodation: Hakata Miyako Hotel.
